Getting started

Creating circles

Step-by-step guide to creating and managing your first circle.

What is a circle?

A circle is a savings group where everyone pays the same amount on the same day and one person takes the whole pot each round, in an agreed order, until everyone has had a turn. People know it as ajo, esusu, susu, pardner, chama, committee, tontine or hui. Keepaa runs it for you and shows everyone the same record.

Before you start

  • A realistic contribution amount that everyone can meet every round
  • The day each contribution is collected
  • People you trust, who will be paid in the order you agree

Create your circle

  1. From your dashboard, select Create circle.
  2. Give the circle a name that says what it is for, for example Holiday savings.
  3. Choose weekly or monthly contributions and set the amount each member pays.
  4. Choose the start date and, if you want one, a limit on the number of members.
  5. Review the details and select Create circle.

You become the organiser of the circle and can manage its members and settings.

What each person pays

Each contribution is collected by Direct Debit on the agreed day, with the platform fee shown as its own line.

Platform fee: a flat amount per contribution

Your payout is paid in full. The fee is never taken from it.
